GDUFS signed a MOU with University of Technology, Sydney

On June 23rd, a delegation from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) signed a memorandum of understanding with GDUFS to promote co-operation between both universities. The delegation was led by Bill Purcel, Deputy Vice-chancellor of UTS. President ZHONG Weihe met with the guests in the VIP Hall of the library on the South Campus.

 

From UTS, Leo Mian Liu, Director of the International Office; John Dai, Director of TEI and Diana Dai, Managing Director of TEI; along with GDUFS President ZHONG Weihe; Vice President Chen Linhan; CAI Hong, Director of the International Office and Yi Zongyong, Deputy Director of the International Office, attended the signing ceremony.

Zhong extended a warm welcome to the delegations. He introduced the basic information of GDUFS: a major internationalized university in South China renowned for its global-minded faculty and students, and its research on international languages, literature, culture, trade and strategic studies. GDUFS has built partnerships with 313 universities from 46 countries and regions, and with over 1000 Chinese students studying abroad and 2000 overseas students coming to join us each year, GDUFS attaches great importance to a full range of cooperation and exchanges in international education.

Bill Purcel marked the day as historic as it opened the door to a partnership between UTS and GDUFS. He showed his appreciation to GDUFS’s comprehensive strength and internationalized qualities. He introduced UTS not only as a university with strong links to and high reputation of technology, business and law, but one that possesses the largest language and international studies degree programs in Australia. He was glad to witness two innovative and creative universities that both share a strong commitment to internationalization joining hands together.

 

The purpose of this MOU is to promote and pursue cooperation including visits of staff and students, joint research activities, joint course development and delivery and so on. Both parties would also like to explore the feasibility of establishing a GDUFS Overseas Teaching Center in Sydney.
